Meet the Team

Stephen Thomson

Chief Executive Officer

Stephen has operated in senior executive and advisory roles in the Australian and Southeast Asian electricity and gas markets.  For over 20 years he has worked in roles spanning leading business start-ups, running contestable markets, leading industry transformation, leading organisational transformation and advising on market reform. Stephen has a deep understanding of energy market regulatory frameworks and value drivers.  Stephen is a Yarra Energy Foundation Board member , and an Alumnus of the Harvard Business School, USA.

Richard Martin

Executive Chairman

Richard is a Senior Executive with extensive corporate and international trade experience in Australia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and the South Pacific.  In 2014 Richard established a highly successful engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm, AEES Group, focused on ‘generating cost reduction and sustainability change' through deploying renewable energy technologies to commercial businesses. The EPC delivers large-scale Behind-The-Meter commercial PV, generation and storage systems aimed at automating; Demand Response, FCAS, Pool Price Autobid and Demand Management solutions. Richard is also a graduate of the Climate Reality Leadership Corps training with Al Gore in Florida, USA.

Riley van de Loo

Engineering Manager

Riley has developed solutions for complex sites including a speciality in Demand management, VPPs, C&I Battery Storage and synchronisation of Behind-the-Meter Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) to the grid. Riley has studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Melbourne University and RMIT.

Nick Caine

Advisory Board Member

Nick has worked internationally for almost three decades in senior commercial and financial roles, including CFO roles in start-up and developing airlines.  Nick is a qualified accountant and has held Advisory Board and developmental roles for Acacia Energy and the AEES Group since early 2020.
